An Overview of Ibiza Spain |
To say the least, Ibiza is one of the most interesting places to
discover in Europe. Over the years, it has developed a reputation of
being a haven for nightclubbers – but what else does it have to
offer? Keep reading to find out!
Travelling to Ibiza: The Basics
Located off the coast of Valencia city in Iberian Peninsula, Ibiza
is the third largest of the Balearic Islands which is an autonomous
community in Spain. Catalan and Spanish are the official languages
here, and it is made up of three cities: San Antonio, Ibiza Town and
Santa Eularia des Riu.
The city of Ibiza is located on the southeast coast part of the
island and its official Catalan name is Eivissa. Ibiza town is
further divided into two parts – the old town or Dalt Villa, and
Eixample which is the more modern part of Ibiza.
So what is it about Ibiza which earned it a reputation of being a
party island in the first place? For the longest time, Ibiza has
become a haven for tourists from all parts of the world who are
looking for an extravagant night club. Pacha and El Divino are two
of the most opulent nightclubs here which are located in the city
proper, while another nightclub called Space is situated near the
airport.
The up-and-coming as well as the already popular DJs are attracted
to play records at one of the clubs here in Ibiza. Although the
island has a population of a little over 113,000 – the place manages
to attract almost a million tourists from all parts of the world on
a yearly basis.
When you go to the nightclubs which are located on the southern part
of the island, you will have a great view of the lovely marina which
lies close to great beaches like the ones from Figuerets and Ses
Salines. There’s also a quaint old quarter and you can take your
pick from a multitude of casual or fine dining options.
Ibiza’s More than Just a Happening Party Island
But aside from being a hotspot of nightclub-goers, what else does
Ibiza have to offer? Over the years, the local government has
exerted efforts into making Ibiza a more family-friendly tourist
destination. If you want to get away from it all, you can simply
ride a boat going to Formentera – an unspoilt part of the island
which boasts of the cleanest, bluest waters in the Mediterranean
Sea.
If you want to celebrate your wedding somewhere exotic, Ibiza is
also a great destination wedding location. During Wednesdays and
Saturdays, you can shop to your heart’s delight as you visit the
famous Es Canar Hippy Market and the Las Dalias Hippy Market in San
Carols.
Nature lovers would have a blast visiting Atlantis, a hidden cove
whose location only the locals know about; Es Vedra which is a
mystical island rock located in Ibiza’s west coast; and the Cova de
Can Marca which is a must-visit spot where you will see the biggest
natural caves in Ibiza.
Aside from beach bumming, boating and souvenir shopping, there are
other water sport activities that you can indulge in while
vacationing in Ibiza, like parasailing. Or, if you’d rather simply
sit back and relax the atmosphere that is all Ibiza’s own, you can
definitely do that while exploring the traditional countryside as
well.
As you can see, there are plenty of other things to do and places to
visit when going to Ibiza in Spain. Book a flight there now and have
